The Power of the Blood

Bible verse of the day - Exodus 12:13

New International Version (NIV)

"The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are, and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt."

King James Version (KJV)

"And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt."

New King James Version (NKJV)

"Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt."

New Living Translation (NLT)

"But the blood on your doorposts will serve as a sign, marking the houses where you are staying. When I see the blood, I will pass over you. This plague of death will not touch you when I strike the land of Egypt."

English Standard Version (ESV)

"The blood shall be a sign for you, on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague will befall you to destroy you, when I strike the land of Egypt."

The Message(MSG)

"The blood will serve as a sign on the houses where you live. When I see the blood I will pass over you—no disaster will touch you when I strike the land of Egypt."

What We Learn

1. The Blood of the Lamb Brings Protection – The Israelites were saved from the final plague because of the blood on their doorposts. This foreshadows Jesus, the Lamb of God, whose blood brings salvation.

2. God’s Judgment and Mercy – While judgment came upon Egypt, God's mercy was upon those covered by the blood.

3. Faith Requires Obedience – The Israelites had to obey God's command to apply the blood. Likewise, we must trust in Christ’s sacrifice for our salvation.

Reflection

The Passover in Exodus reminds us of Jesus’ ultimate sacrifice. Just as the Israelites were protected by the blood of the lamb, we are saved and covered by the blood of Christ. Have you placed your trust in Jesus as your Savior? His blood has the power to redeem, protect, and give eternal life.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the blood of the Lamb that protects and saves. Just as You covered the Israelites, cover me with Your grace and mercy. Help me to walk in faith and obedience, trusting in Jesus' sacrifice for my salvation. May I always remember that His blood has the power to redeem and set me free. In Jesus' name, Amen.
