The Lord's Assurance

Bible Verse of the Day - Judges 6:16

NIV (New International Version):

"The Lord answered, 'I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites, leaving none alive.'"

KJV (King James Version):

"And the Lord said unto him, Surely I will be with thee, and thou shalt smite the Midianites as one man."

NKJV (New King James Version):

"And the Lord said to him, 'Surely I will be with you, and you shall defeat the Midianites as one man.'"

NLT (New Living Translation):

"The Lord said to him, 'I will be with you. And you will destroy the Midianites as if you were fighting against one man.'"

ESV (English Standard Version):

"And the Lord said to him, 'But I will be with you, and you shall strike the Midianites as one man.'"

MSG (The Message):

"God said to him, 'I’ll be with you. Believe me, you’ll defeat Midian as easily as if they were one man.'"

What We Learn:

This verse reminds us of the power of God's presence in our lives. Gideon felt weak and inadequate, yet God promised to be with him, ensuring victory over the Midianites. It highlights that God's strength, not our own, enables us to overcome challenges. When God is with us, even overwhelming battles become manageable.

The promise "I will be with you" is an assurance we can cling to in our struggles. It demonstrates God's faithfulness and His ability to equip ordinary people for extraordinary tasks.

Reflection:

  1. Are there challenges in your life that feel overwhelming or impossible to overcome?
  2. How does the assurance of God’s presence change your perspective?
  3. In what ways can you trust God more deeply today, knowing that He is with you in your battles?

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for the promise of Your presence in my life. Just as You assured Gideon, remind me that I am never alone in my struggles. Help me to trust in Your strength rather than my own, and give me the courage to face the battles before me with faith. Equip me to fulfill the purpose You have called me to, knowing that victory comes through You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
