The God of Truth and Blessing

Bible verse of the day - Isaiah 65:16

NIV (New International Version):

Whoever invokes a blessing in the land will do so by the one true God; whoever takes an oath in the land will swear by the one true God. For the past troubles will be forgotten and hidden from my eyes.

KJV (King James Version):

That he who blesseth himself in the earth shall bless himself in the God of truth; and he that sweareth in the earth shall swear by the God of truth; because the former troubles are forgotten, and because they are hid from mine eyes.

NKJV (New King James Version):

So that he who blesses himself in the earth shall bless himself in the God of truth; and he who swears in the earth shall swear by the God of truth; because the former troubles are forgotten, and because they are hidden from My eyes.

NLT (New Living Translation):

All who invoke a blessing or take an oath will do so by the God of truth. For I will put aside my anger and forget the evil of earlier days.

ESV (English Standard Version):

So that he who blesses himself in the land shall bless himself by the God of truth, and he who takes an oath in the land shall swear by the God of truth; because the former troubles are forgotten and are hidden from my eyes.

MSG (The Message):

Then whoever prays a blessing in the land will use my faithful name for the blessing, and whoever takes a vow in the land will use my faithful name in the vow. Because the earlier troubles are gone and forgotten, banished far from my sight.

What We Learn from Isaiah 65:16

1. God of Truth:

God is characterized as the ultimate truth, and all blessings or oaths should honor Him.

2. Source of Blessing:

True blessings come only from God, who is faithful and dependable.

3. Forgiveness of the Past:

God’s mercy is so complete that He chooses to forget our former troubles and sins.

4. A New Beginning:

This verse reflects the hope and renewal God promises to those who turn to Him.

Reflection:

Isaiah 65:16 reminds us of God’s faithfulness and His ability to restore what is broken. In a world filled with lies and fleeting promises, God is unchanging truth. He desires to bless us and give us hope, but we must acknowledge Him as the source of all goodness. The promise that past troubles are forgotten offers great comfort, especially when we carry guilt, regret, or pain.

Today, let this verse inspire you to focus on the God of truth. Trust Him with your blessings, oaths, and hopes for the future. Lay your past at His feet, knowing that He remembers your sins no more.

Reflection Question:

How can you honor God as the source of truth and blessing in your life today?
